Dieser Text ist während einer Schreibübung entstanden, bei welcher eine Person einer anderen ein Wort geben muss, das in irgendeiner Weise in dem zu schreibenden Text vorkommen soll. Das Wort für diesen Text war „Vorhang“.

Bewegungslos starrt sie aus dem Fenster, auf die Straße, auf die Stadt. Es hatte eine Zeit gegeben, da hatte sie all das schön gefunden, sich an den bunten Werbeplakaten auf den grauen Klötzen erfreut. Damals, als sie ihr modernes Apartment bezogen hatte, mit nicht mehr als ein paar Bildern von ihren Verwandten im Gepäck. Sie war einer Zukunft gefolgt, so schillernd und verheißungsvoll wie die Lichter der großen Stadt am Horizont. Zu spät hatte sie begriffen, dass sie die Anonymität in der Menge nicht ertragen konnte, dass sie sich insgeheim nach der Wärme ihres Heimatdorfes sehnte. Auch ihre Karriere im Theater war nur von kurzer Dauer gewesen, ihre schauspielerischen Leistungen sanken auf Grund ihrer Depressionen. Heute verharrt sie die Tage vor dem Fenster, antriebslos, und hängt ihrer Vergangenheit nach, weil sich die Zukunft eben doch nur als ein grauer, monotoner Block erwiesen hatte.

Ja, es hatte eine Zeit gegeben, in der sie das Leben hier genossen hatte. Doch wie sagte man so schön im Theater:Der Vorhang war gefallen.

Her face has vanished from the crowd
She left this place
Following the soft calls
Of her dreams
Leading her far away from here

Drifting
Between two worlds
Between reality and imagination
Not able to communicate
Yet she watches us puppets on strings
Falling deeper into despair
She feels nothing, she chose not to care.

Her soul was broken long ago
It could not stand the self-inflicted pain
And sought to fall and sleep
That silent girl there in the corner
Is nothing but an empty shell

Yes, her face has vanished from the crowd
Her mind lies frozen
In this sunlit world
She has left this place, and all that remains
Is just the shadow of a memory

Haunting me. Preventing me from sleeping
Because I decided to care
And I cannot look away
From these cold, dead eyes
Of the human wreck she chose to be.

We live by thinking of tomorrow,
simply to forget the day.
We dwell in today so not to think of tomorrow,
simply to forget the dim future.
We remember the past,
so near and far seem negligible.

As the days continue on and we forget what happenend,
the past unrolls, the past loosens,
hiding reality from our minds.
As memories shift and change,
we strain not to insult our neighbor with false thought.

Hold my head inside your hands
I need someone who understands
I need someone, someone who hears
For you I’ve waited all these years

I lie there, legs crossed, arms aside,
watching the clock’s merry-go-round.
As the seconds tick away,
my eyelids begin to slide, seeking to hide the world from me.
My eyes closed, I see the red shadows of the blinded sun.
Hidden behind dark shades,
I catch a glimpse of moments to come.
Some of happiness, of sadness, of peace.
As the images fuse inside,
I notice the door opens.
I open my eyes, turn around and notice
you, standing there with a gaze that pierces,
but hushes my fears.
My shadow stands up and follows,
moving to greet a friend.
